Preparing Endpoints for Webex Calling
If you have a DX80, nearly any of the 8800 phones or 7800 series phones you have endpoints needed to register to Webex calling. The only problem with some of these endpoints, however, can be that they require a minimum version of software to register to the cloud. As of this writing the DX platform requires at least CE 8.3.4 and the 7800 and 8800 family’s require 11.0 software or later. In some cases you may have a DX80 still on the Android version of software. This is not supported. In fact the conversion process can be somewhat involved a … Continue reading

Cisco SX80 Presenter Track Speaker Track Toggle Macro
Cisco’s SX80 codec with Presenter Track camera in combination with Speaker Track addresses a problem that existed in the large video room space since the beginning; Seeing both participants and presenter who are joining the web conference from the same room. The Cisco ideal use case is pictured below. Presenter Track works best with this the model design, two separate displays in the front of the room and a display in the rear for the presenter to see. This configuration then allows “Briefing Mode” to be enabled which then produces the meeting for you switching cameras automatically and double screening … Continue reading
Hide Not Registered Message When Not Registering Your Cisco Endpoint
You know that Cisco endpoints can SIP or H323 dial without being registered to a call control platform, right? While you lose some flexibility and ease of use it can be done. One complaint I hear about this is the the device says “Not Registered” in the upper left hand corner of the screen or the touch 10 panel. “Not” anything to users often means “its NOT working, call support” so we obviously want this to change… Continue reading
Cisco DX80 Kiosk Version 2
Recently I wrote a Kiosk mode for the DX80 that you can find here. There where a few limitations that make this solution a bit tricky to use. The primary complain was of course having to touch the screen twice to start a call. Second, the popup window was not terribly appealing aesthetically. The new iteration of the code addresses both of these issues. First, the buttons placed on the screen in the in room controls editor can be customized as far as the button icon and the color of the button. The panel shown below is the options menu … Continue reading
